Watatunga Wildlife Reserve

Watatunga is a stunning new wildlife reserve in west Norfolk. Situated amongst 170 acres of woodland, grassland and lakes, Watatunga provides a unique environment for over twenty types of ungulate and rare bird species to roam at their will. The team run breeding programmes for many of the threatened species including the Malayan sambar, hog deer, mountain bongo and the great bustard, a spectacular bird which went extinct in the U.K. in 1832. Access to the reserve is via electric buggies on a guided tour and must be pre-booked online via the website, www.watatunga.co.uk.

Seals

There are seal colonies along the North Norfolk Coast, made up of Common and Grey seals. We prefer to see a slightly smaller colony at Brancaster beach, walking left along the beautiful sandy shore. We find these relaxed and inquisitive.

Historic Properties & National Trusts

An abundance of beautiful churches, historic houses and stately homes can be found within half an hour’s drive of Hill Farm Massingham. Including Houghton Hall, Sandringham Hall, Blickling Hall, Holkham Hall and Castle Acre Priory.

Local Towns & Cities

Norwich, the historical cathedral city and regional centre of East Anglia, lies about 35 miles to the southeast and King’s Lynn is about 13 miles away.  The growing commercial centre of Cambridge is about 50 miles to the southwest. London is about 107 miles. Holt is a beautiful Georgian market town, renowned for great eateries, antique shops and unique boutiques. The North Norfolk Coast, most of which is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is within easy striking distance and there is excellent sailing along much of this coast, as well as bird watching from the creaks and the marshes. The coastal village of Brancaster (17 miles) and Holkham are particularly noted.

Golf

If you enjoy golf, The Royal West Norfolk, at Brancaster, has a beautiful varied landscape making it ideal for the perfect round. There are other local clubs in the area too, including Hunstanton, Royal Norwich and Wensum Valley.
